Men Bati is a Beneteau 50, a 50-foot cruiser/racer designed by Bruce Farr and built in France by Beneteau. Men Bati has been privately owned since being built to survey and launched in 1999. The yacht was placed in Moorings management based in Nice, France for the first 5 years. In April 2006 MEN BATI was purchased by a syndicate and started a period of Blue Water Cruising. MEN BATI has sailed the Meditterranean, Carribbean and South Pacific Oceans and now is cruising the East Coast of Australia en route to South East Asia.
The name MEN BATI is part of a provincial french phrase and means "I am unconcerned .... (because I come from Nice!!)".The Beneteau 50 has been in production by Beneteau, France for many years and is considered the flagship of the Beneteau fleet. The quality and strength of construction is recognised among the sailing fraternity and design input by Bruce Farr makes the Beneteau 50 a strong and comfortable Blue Water sailer as well as a fast passagemaker. The yacht crossed the Atlantic from Canaries to Guadaloupe in under 20 days and crossed from Galapagos to Marquisesas also in under 20 days. The comfort, waterline length and strength of construction makes the yacht a comfortable and safe cruiser.
MEN BATI is a 5 cabin and 5 head masthead sloop design. The forward V cabin is ideally suited for the children and includes 2 bunks with toilet and wash basin. The 4 main cabins each have a self contained head with toilet/shower/wash basin/vanity. The cabins all have generous double berths. There is full 2 metre headroom throughout. Each cabin has multiple hatches to ensure good ventilation at anchor or berth. The 4 main cabins are located 2 port and 2 starboard forward and aft. The forward and aft cabins are separated by a combined galley / saloon /navigation station area. The galley has a functional layout including a two burner gas range with oven under and gymballed. There is a dual sink/preparation area. Refrigeration is via a large engine driven fridge and a combined electric fridge / freezer. Thers is ample storage cupboards and plenty of natural light and ventilation in the galley.

The engine is a Perkins naturally aspirated diesel generating 80HP driving a fixed 20" three blade propeller. The engine charges the House and Starter battery banks via 2 X 80AMP alternators. The engine historically averages 4.3 litre per hour at 2000RPM moving the yacht at approximately 8Knots SOG.
MEN BATI has a solid motoring range of over 1,100NM (2,000km) with 600 litre fuel capacity. Water is stored in 4 integrated glass hull tanks with total capacity of 1,000 litres. There is hot and cold water to all points in the heads and galley as well as a deck shower at the stern. The water heater is engine driven while cruising and 240 volt while in port. The water system is pressurised at all times.
The electrical system throughout is 240 volt AC / 12 vold DC. While in the marina 240 volt is provided to all points and charges the house and starter batteries via a 40 amp 240 volt charger. The electronics are supplied by RAYMARINE and all navigation data is multiplexed to the navigation computer/navigation software. The autohelm is RAYMARINE. MEN BATI is often sailed solo during passages and day sailing. The Lewmar self tailing winches are conveniently located close the the twin helms at the stern. Mast mounted winches are also self tailing. The sail wardrobe is extensive including Main, 130% Genoa, Storm and Gennaker (with sock). MEN BATI comfortably sleeps 10 and is a very strong, comfortable and safe family cruiser.
